PRO
OR AM Galway 's Black Dragon kickboxer Owen Flatley has said
he will not quit until he is world champion the thirty year old
was out classed this month when he challenged for the vacant pro/am
WKN lightweight world title at the 5th Rumble in the Bay event at
the Leisureland complex in Salthill . ForKick have learnt that slick
mover Anthony Mazacche who forced Peter Foley not let his man out
for the 7th and final round, is a Pro boxer with a fight record
of three wins from three contests. Some would say that the French
man should not be allowed to kickbox as an amateur but a representative
to the governing body said, " that boxing and kickboxing are two
different sports Anthony Mazacche is and professional boxer and
fights for money however he kickboxes for the sport and fun not
the money therefore he is an amateur fighter under the World KickBoxing
Network". Meanwhile, Owen is still European champion and is likely
to defend that to get back on form , Forkicks will keep you posted.
TWO BECOME ONE War of the ring is over! or is it? Paul Cummins
returned home from Norway last Sunday from one of the toughest fights
to date but he took it all in his stride, this unassuming 26 year
old former undefeated kickboxing champion and classed as a saint
for work he does with underprivileged and handicapped children end
the war of the rings on Thursday when he was finally made an honest
man of the marriage when like a dream to his long time Fiancée Patsy
which just last week hung in the balance. Paul was part of the Irish
select who took on the Vikings in Bergen (Norway) last Saturday
and was under strict orders not to return with even the slightest
scathe, or he could find himself in a war without a ring. All of
us at Forkick and ProKick wish them both a long, happy and prosperous
life together.
ITS S-COOL TO KICKBOX Murray first day back to school and
he's on the beak - The former World Champion was to start back however
he phoned in late as his trip to clinch a TV deal took longer than
planed. All is back on track - the kickboxing ace hits three school
next week. St Colman's, Milltown High Schools and this year St Eugines
High school. All will learn from the man who won four world titles
at different weights and who has been in 15 pro world title fights.
The man responsible for helping introduce the sport to the Strabane
area is - Youth Sport Coordinator Mr Jim McCloskey. He has been
delighted with the response from his students. He said "Last year
I was delighted to introduce kickboxing it was very successful with
the sixth formers and they are looking forward to the classes again
this year." Billy Murray
SMALL SCREEN Promoter Billy Murray returned home this week
from major talks with a major TV network, the four hour long meeting
included negotiations on a live TV deal for Kickboxing Mania 6 to
be release soon. The network was very impressed with the style of
his latest work all thanks to UTV and the editor/directed Mr Paul
Clarke. A source in the inside informed us that if all goes to plan
this could be the biggest TV deal ever clinched for the sport of
Kickboxing. The date for KBM VI along with details of the TV deal
can be found right here. Ali Jacko's series of kickboxing programmes
on channel 5 has now moved to Tuesday evenings at the earlier time
of 12 .25am. The series features action from the K-1UK MAX 2002
