INVASION As exclusively reveal in ForKicks last week - The Celts
Vs The Viking’s return match is on! However the date has been changed,
the invasion will commence on March 8th in Bergen. Promoted by Trevor
Ambrose. Ambrose, now Norway’s adopted son and former World kickboxing
Champion was behind the deal. Originally from Bournemouth now married
to a Norwegian beauty, he has set up shop in the city. Since moving
there he has worked closely with a number of gyms by introduce the
WKN. Now for the first time Norway will sanction outside their own
government recognised board. At times this has restricted some of
their top fighters from competing for major honours on home turf.
Unfortunately this is still the case as bouts are limited to 7 x
2 minute rounds at present. However, Ambrose believes things are
beginning to move in the right direction. “Kickboxing is very popular
in Norway, especially here in Bergen and it is a shame that the
competitor’s are restricted. The introduction of the WKN here is
the first step in the right direction and hopefully we will be able
to bring a professional 12 x 2 minute world title here sometime
soon.” One World Champion who will be in action is, our recently
crowned Featherweight Champion Gary Hamilton. Hamilton will faced
stern opposition in a tough rematch against Arild Mikarlsen over
7x2 minute rounds. The pair met last April at the Waterfront Hall
were Hamilton claimed the WKN Intercontinental Lightweight title
after a grueling twelve rounder. “The only problem I foresee, is
Mikarlsen wants the fight at light welterweight this is too heavy
for Gary, Gary’s last fight was at 60kg not 65kg. However, I’m sure
we can work something out if they agree on the fight weight, in
any case, nothing will change from the last time they fought, Gary
will win again, he’s so confident after winning the world title”.
said Murray, Hamilton’s coach. Hamilton will be joined by a full
team from Ireland and Scotland who will attempt the foray on foreign
ground. Another ProKick star for the trip is Intercontinental champion
Newtownards man Paul Day.
LEGENDRY O’SULLIVAN Legendry kickboxing trainer Billy O’Sullivan
is a big hit in his native city of Waterford – he’s dubbed the cities
secret weapon for more reasons than one.
HUNGARY KICKBOXER FOR KNOWLEDGE Kickboxer Roisin Mc Mahon
(pictured) jetted of on Friday to Hungary, and its not all ForKicks.
Roisin is one of two people who’s been asked to represent Queen's
University. That’s where she will finish her last three months for
her final year studies to become a nurse. Opportunity, she was approached
by Queen's international link lecturer and was asked to represent
Queen's in an international placement, first of all to Italy but
that fell trough. As an alternative the placement was offered in
Szeged in Hungary. “This is a new contract for Queen's and myself
and another student have been chosen as ambassadors for the university.
While there I will have the opportunity to work in surgical, medical
and emergency departments. Whilst on this placement, I have to write
an article for the University, reflecting upon my experiences in
Hungary and comparing the differences in the nursing between both
countries. I have been informed that there is a possibility of it
being published. I'm really looking forward to going though the
only daunting thing is that I don't speak a word of Hungarian! But
sure isn't that all part of the experience”. Roisin has been at
ProKick for about five months now, she was training up to twice
a week and was about to complete her orange belt next week, we have
a few contact there so she said she will keep the training up, we
all wish her well in her adventure.” Said Murray.
LA SALSA STOREY Thanks, was the message from promoter and
head Instructor of the Prokick kickboxing school of excellence.
Billy Murray invited all of his Instructors out for a special New

Belfast’s state of the art entertainment park at the Odyssey Arena..
The meal was a way of saying thanks to all that help make ProKick
tic - and they were all delighted with the quality and service which
came with the meal as well.

Thai-boxing title in Japan in 1991 and now lives in NYC. He also
