Hello Kickboxing & Fight Fans - Nov 10th

Week two - of kickboxing own regular news column in a leading Sunday newspaper. Thanks to the foresight of the Sunday People, the column will have a weekly slot in the Ulster and Irish editions . The column will cover who's who in the sport along with all the latest news, gossip, events and tail of the tape on all the up-and-coming fighters within Kickboxing. OOH LA LA, FRENCH BELLA!?Top French kickboxer Christine Mouerir (pictured above) was in Dublin this week to help promote the kickboxing international extravaganza at the Ulster Hall next Sunday. The event features an All-Ireland team with the top fighters from all 32 counties joining forces against Spain and Uganda. Christine is not just a pretty face, she is also a current full-contact world champion and will be competing in Dublin on the 16th November. Co-promoter and former full-contact world champion Billy Murray said: "Belfast deserves top quality fights after the support that has been shown in the past. This will bring more regular and major international bouts in the city and all over Ireland." Murray is the WKN's Irish representative. He is also a member of the association's world governing body which is based in Nimes and owns Pro-Kick's 14 strong network of clubs throughout Northern Ireland and plans to extend his franchise south of the border. Fighters representing Ireland are Belfast professional Gary Hamilton, the WKN's current Intercontinental Lightweight champion, Kilkenny's former world title holder Paul Cummins, and Dublin's Sean Collier, who is having his first pro contest. Dublin fighters Thomas Bateman and Darrin O'Mara, from the Black Panther Club, are also pencilled in. Doors open on the night of the event at 7pm and the first bout is at 7.30. Tickets are priced £10 adults, £5 for kids. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.ie and all Ticketmaster outlets throughout Ireland and from the venue itself. Viking Invasion: Promoter Paul Cummins and his team the Black Dragons from Kilkenny will try to fend off a Viking team from Norway this afternoon at the Springhill Hotel in the town. Cummins headlines the event against Daniel Nordas a current European title contender as he continues his quest to return to World Dominance after a shoulder inquire put him out of action for three years.

THE BILL: Paul Cummins vs Daniel Nordes; Ruairi Burke vs TBA; David Bourke vs Arild Mikarisen; Vinny Di Ruscio vs Crister Kvammen; John Paul Soames vs TBA Ugandan Arrival: The Ugandan kickboxing team which is set to face Ireland next Saturday arrives in Belfast today.  The six strong team decided to come early in order acclimatise and to see some of the sites before putting their skills to the test.  Their final preparation for the bouts will take place at Prokick Gym in Belfast. THE SMALL SCREEN: The second part of the Irish Full-Contact kickboxing championships from the Ulster Hall can be seen on SkySports 3 at 9pm on Wednesday 13th Nov. The programme also features an international prestige bout between Kilkenny's Paul Cummins and Cecil Sipes of Canada with Downpatrick's Gary Noade topping the bill as he challenge's Canada's Matt Cowles for the WKN Intercontinental Welterweight title.

NEW YORKER RETURNS: Promoter Peter Foley flew out to New York last week for a well deserved break after a highly successful event in Galway when Ireland took on some of the best from the USA. However, peter did have business on his mind and arrived home on Friday with news that the American Squad will return early in the New Year. Saintfield's Brian Boyd who missed out last time due to his opponent having food poisoning will have the chance to join the fight card as Ireland hope to reverse the four three defeat by the Americans in October.

WKN Expands: The World Kickboxing Network signed its latest club this week as Ken Molloy's Full-Contact "Fight Club" in Dublin became affiliated.  Ken has four fighters taking part in the Belfast-staged Championship Kickboxing event on November 17th.  The Full-Contact aspect of the sport is becoming increasingly more popular and the WKN are pleased to have Ken on board. New License Officer Appointed: The WKN head office in Nimes, France this week announced their newly appointed license officer for all of Ireland. Robin Stewart a highly experienced International Official from Belfast will take on the role which includes issuing new licenses, insuring all fighters medical and insurance papers are in order and license fees are renewed.

The WKN and FORKICKS congratulate Robin and wish him every success in his new role. The Celt's Vs The Arab's: Scottish Promoter Gary Langford is to host an eight strong team from Iran in February as fighters from Ireland and Scotland club together for The Celt's vs The Arab's in Glasgow. Details to follow.
