Show in Belfast September 27th 1998

ProKick Promotions continued it's reputation for putting on a fine show, when, during their monthly show, 20 amateur fighters contested for honours. For some it was their first time in a ring - there were two all female bouts featuring a debutant and pro-kick's female star Gail Hagan. Two Southern Irish fighters and a Frenchman.

Top of the bill, though, was local hero Sheldon Schutzler. The South African born Northern Irish based Heavyweight had his first competitive bout since his drubbing during the Ten Nations event held in June. He spent three months training and getting mentally ready. Beating the Scot Greg Doherty in the second he showed some of his old resilience and ability as well as a fierce canon of leg kicks. His return to action will be completely on November 7th when he travels to Chester to defend his Commonwealth title. On present form Doherty is a prospect for the future.

Also on the Belfast card was Gary Hamilton. The Belfast boy was up against another local favourite, Don McGrillen. Gary's experience told in the third and final round of a keenly contested fight when the bell saved McGrillen from a KO. Instead he lost on points. Gary travels with Schutzler to Chester where he will challenge for a British welterweight title.

The ProKick management and members would like to thank Peter Foley and his Galway team and Gary Langford with his Scottish squad for supporting the event.
