Tenebras Cup, Geneva 23rd & 24th March

Prokick's trio of young stars Gary Hamilton, Glen Kilpatrick and Alan
Kilpatrick arrived home below is a brief report of their bouts at the
biggest Martial Arts tournaments in Europe.
New Born Star! Belfast's WKN British Champion Glen Kilpatrick was mobbed
with Swiss fight fans young and old wanting autographs when he won in
emphatic style in Geneva on Saturday night.
After the first hard round of the two fighters exchanging blows, Kilpatrick
proved he was obviously the stronger and more physical of the fighters.
He floored the Frenchman Castro with a sweet left hook and there was no
coming back! Castro hit the ground hard and the Referee didn't even start
a count. The doctors were immediately into the ring and Castro was brought
to Hospital. Thankfully he is ok, but spent the night for precautionary
measures.
A
new star is born! After the fight it took Glen nearly twenty minutes
to get back to his changing room whilst he signed hundreds of Autographs.
After the fight Glen said "The atmosphere was incredible, I have never
experienced such over whelming support and never thought I would ever
find myself signing autographs".
Footage of the fight, which was televised on Eurosport, SkySport and many
other TV stations around the world as well as local TV in Ireland.
Glen's
younger brother Alan started well in the first round of his fight when
he took on the Moroccan Yacana. However he lost his tempo slightly in
the second and took some good hard blows. Alan came back very strong in
the third and fourth, with lightning quick kick and punch combinations.
The fight was closely fought to the end and the judges only scored the
fight with half a point between the fighters, in favour of Yacana.
Gary
Hamilton started in his usual fashion against Flavio Turelli. He put the
highly experienced Swiss under a lot of pressure and looked certain to
end the fight with-in the distance, but in the game never take your opponent
lightly….as Hamilton found out the hard way.
At the end of the second round the Flavio caught Hamilton of guard with
a clean roundhouse kick, which sent the Belfast man crashing to the canvas.
As he fell he appeared to twist his Knee badly and frustratingly he was
unable to continue. Hamilton lost by KO. Hamilton said " I can't believe
it ended in this way. It is hard to stomach loosing in this fashion, however,
these things happen, all I can do now is pray that my knee will heal quickly
and get back into ring soon.

Scotland's Willy Robbie's hopes of becoming the WKN World Champion were
dashed on Saturday night when he lost his all out battle with Frenchman
and WKN World Champion Olivier Cerdan…. More to follow shortly from the
