Hamilton's US debut ends in disaster

Gary HamiltonProKick man Gary Hamilton's US début ended in disaster with the Belfast lad stopped controversially in the 3rd round of a scheduled four rounder last night in Chicago.

Hamilton had started well and put Patrick Dominguez of Panorama City CA on the back foot for most of the first round, with blood streaming out of the Californian’s right eye right after Hamilton rocked him with two big left hooks.

Round two. Dominguez changed his game plan by staying on the outside using his longer reach, half way through round two - Hamilton’s American dream was starting to fade when he was dropped with a straight right hand, without taking a count Hamilton was back on his feet forcing Dominguez back and catching him with another big left hook to open the cut even more.

Round three. The bout got a little scrappy with both boys fighting hard to win. At the end of round three Hamilton let go with a big hook, missing his target and ending up on the ground - when he got back to his feet the referee stopped the bout and awarded the match to Patrick Dominguez on a TKO.

A packed Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin Chicago booed and hissed the referee for stopping the bought so controversially. Tom Brown from TV Promoters America Presents immediately jumped up on the ring tp confront the referee. The referee said that Hamilton was in no state to defend himself, even though he was not being punched…. Weird!

Hamilton’s all American dream turned to nightmare. A rematch is planned for January 20th in Belfast's Ulster Hall.

Hamilton and DominguezGary’s bout was screened LIVE prime time 7.45 ct time on the Fox Sport US network from the Grand Victoria Casino Elgin Chicago with over 5000 attending in a marquee outside the Casino - Filmed Live for Fox Sports.
