Oh
Great King, the song dedicated to His Majesty, filled the air over Sanam
Luang last night as Thais worldwide united to demonstrate their love for
their King, who celebrated his 72nd birthday on December 5th.
Prime
Minister Chuan Leekpai led the candle-lit ceremony from Sanam Luang public
ground to wish His Majesty the King a happy birthday. The singing was
echoed nationwide by people from all walks of life who gathered at town
halls in the provinces in a mass demonstration of loyalty and love.
The
Sanam Luang field was filled with the glitter of candles lit by participants
who began gathering there from early afternoon to wait for the ceremony,
before the International Muay Thai event orginised by Mr Songchai Ratanansuban's
team and what an event it turned out to be It kick off at 8.30 sharp and
went on until 3am.
