New
WKN Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion
Sheldon Schutzler
Fighting
out of Northern Ireland
Christophe De Tholomese
Baron De Prinsac
A
packed Park Avenue Hotel saw Bangor's Sheldon Schutzler take the
WKN Intercontinental Heavyweight Belt over Frenchman Christophe
de Tholomese. The five by three minute round bout had spectators
on a knife edge as the two titans, desperate for the title, wrestled
around the ring. Schutzler, the adopted Ulsterman from South Africa,
had De Tholomese in trouble in the second, connecting with a straight
right hand, putting The Baron on the deck, although the Frenchman
was on his feet quick, the referee Andrew Harron administered the
first of two standing eight counts.
It
looked as if De Tholomese would not last till the end of the third
but as a former World Champion he showed the Belfast crowd what
he was made of and put Schutzler under pressure in the fourth round.
At the sound of the fifth and final round in this Championship bout
there was only one winner.
MC,
Peter Wright was greeted by a crescendo from the erupting crowd
as he announced the judges' unanimous decision -"and the new WKN
Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion...." Schutzler broke into
his trademark dance whilst the defeated De Tholomese could only
look on in despair. Billy Murray said 'I am very happy for Sheldon,
his recent hard work and dedication has pulled him through tough
times and has paid off.' He went to say that there are some areas
that still need work, but on the whole I'm very very pleased.

3x2 low kick 75kg
Fatilli
Moug - France
ProKick
man Kenny Bishop had a decisive vistory over the French Middleweight
Champion Fatilli Moug, with a clean knockout in the first round.
The rematch, after Bishop's defeat in June at the Park Avenue
Hotel, was a daunting task for the Bangor man, one which he relished
on the night. Unfortunately Kenny had some problems making the
Middle weight division, it looks as if he will be on the move
up to Super Middle or Light Heavy.

WKN
Amateur Champion Gary Hamilton was to square up with Scotland's
Joe Wallace, but unfortunately Wallace withdrew at short notice
due the Doctor's advice. Instead Hamilton was joined in the ring
by Galway's Fred Atal for 3 round exhibition match. Although Gary's
fans were disappointed at not seeing him in action, the rising
star showed why he is European Champion with a dazzling display
of his renowned kicking ability. Thanks to Fred Atal for stepping
in at short notice.

see three generations of one family participating in a sport at
