Fright Night - Leicester - 31st October 99

In a disappointing and unadventurous fight at the standing room only Club 2001 in Leicester, Simon Dore defeated WKN Intercontinental Champion Sheldon Schutzler.

The 5x2 minute rounds went by without much to thrill the capacity crowd, both men seeming hesitant to get into the action. In the third round Schutzler bit the dusk briefly after a glancing right hand from the more agressive Dore. In the 4th Schutzler came back, but it wasn't enough and after a fairly even 5th and final round the judges gave the fight to Dore in an unanimous decision.

A rematch looks set to take place in early 2000, as both contenders have now taken one fight each under their belt, their last meeting being back in February '99 in a freestyle match. Since then Dore won the WKN World title in Brazil whilst Schutzler defeated Frenchman Christophe de Tholomese for the WKN Intercontinental Heavyweight Title under Thai rules.
